About the Rawls Research Lab
Lab hours
The Rawls Research Lab is used by researchers who have reserved the space in advance. The Rawls Research Lab Manager can only guarantee the scheduling of sessions during regular business hours (8am-5pm, Monday-Friday). If it is absolutely necessary to schedule sessions on weekends or at any other time outside these regular hours, one must contact the Rawls Research Lab Manager with this special request. The Lab staff will do their best to accommodate experimenters’ needs.
How to reserve the Rawls Research Lab
- Please read the Rawls Research Lab Policies & Procedures before making a reservation.
- Prior to requesting the lab, check the Schedule for available time slots.
- All reservations must be made via the electronic reservation system on the Rawls Research Lab website found here: Reservation Request Form
- Please allow for setup and close out times in your reservation requests.
- Reservation requests will be confirmed by the Lab Manager. Upon confirmation of your request security access to the room via ProxCard will be granted and training provided on the equipment and room.
Lab Information
The Rawls Research Lab is a secure space which requires prior authorization and ProxCard access. The lab has a total of 36 seats, comprised of six six-seat pods. Each station is outfitted with a workstation. Any researcher can decide if they would like to utilize the computers placed at each station or research via different methods. The researcher has the ability to view and control each workstation and send them images or documents as needed.

Data Security
The Rawls Research Lab computers are networked behind a secured firewall and assigned a private IP. For computer security and data privacy, Deep Freeze software is installed on every lab computer.
Please note: This software deletes all the documents and data with every reboot. Researchers must know the procedures to backup their data after they have competed their experiment, before restarting the computers and leaving the lab.
Storage
There is currently no storage available in the Rawls Research Lab for personal items. Participants will need to make prior arrangements.
